See the pattern.
Choose the
response.

Most of what holds people back is not lack of intelligence or effort. It is unseen patterns of thought, invisible contracts, unfinished events, automatic protective moves, quietly running the show. This work makes them visible.

01

Why capable people stay stuck

You are intelligent. You understand your situation. You know, broadly, what needs to change. And yet the same patterns keep appearing, the same avoidance, the same reaction, the same result.

This is not a motivation problem. It is not a strategy problem. It is a thinking problem. Specifically: there are thoughts running your behaviour that you cannot currently see. They are too quick, too familiar, too well-disguised as logic.

This work is designed to make them visible, precisely not vaguely, and give you the tools to choose a different response. That is the whole thing.

You know what you need to do and still don't do it. The gap between knowing and acting stays stubbornly open.

You find yourself in the same argument, the same procrastination loop, the same self-sabotage, despite resolving to change.

You perform well externally but carry a persistent background noise: guilt, restlessness, the feeling that something is unfinished.

You react in ways that surprise even you, then spend time explaining, justifying, or recovering.

Therapy helped, or didn't, but you want something more rigorous, more practical, and faster.

02

The method

The work is built on a single framework: RAD. Not as a slogan. An operating system. Three principles that, applied honestly and in sequence, produce real and lasting change.

R

Responsibility

You stop living primarily in blame, drift or excuse. Not because everything is your fault, but because your response always is. Responsibility shifts you from passive to active. From what happened to what you do next.

A

Awareness

The ability to see your own thinking, including the invisible thoughts that move too quickly to catch. This is the core skill. Everything else depends on it. You cannot change what you cannot see.

D

Discipline

Not willpower. Discipline is the structure of small, kept promises. It creates freedom, not restriction. A person who keeps their own contracts is a different kind of person, and it shows in every area of life.

02.1

The curriculum

Eight topics, taught in sequence. Each builds directly on the last. The full programme takes a person from surface-level pattern recognition to a complete map of their own psychological structure, and a daily practice for changing it.

Topic 0

Foundations

Why you are here, what this work is, and what it is not. The two engines: pride and shame. What it means to move from a rigid to an agile mind.

Topic 1

Contracts

Every relationship, including the one with yourself, runs on contracts. Most are invisible. Learn to read them, honour them, and renegotiate the ones that are costing you.

Topic 2

Complexes

Thoughts cluster. When one fires, the whole network fires. This is why reactions feel disproportionate: you are not reacting to now, you are reacting to everything connected to now.

Topic 3

Awareness

The central skill. Learning to see your own thinking, not just the visible surface thoughts, but the faster, older, invisible ones that are actually driving the bus.

Topic 4

Events

Significant experiences leave unfinished thought. That unfinished thought becomes background noise, a low hum that distorts how you see everything that comes after.

Topic 5

Purposes

Nothing you think or do is random. Every thought has a purpose, something it is trying to get or avoid. Learn to find it, and you gain genuine choice over what you do next.

Topics 6 + 7

Consciousness & Mindprint

Where you came from, psychologically. The early experiences that built your frame of reference. Your Mindprint: the complete map of how your mind organises the world.

Topic 8

FoffTing

The daily practice. A method that turns everything learned in the curriculum into a repeatable discipline. This is what integration actually looks like.

What the work produces

"I'd been in therapy for two years and understood my patterns intellectually. This was different. One session showed me the exact thought running the whole thing. It was precise in a way nothing else had been."

Senior leader, financial services

"The work isn't comfortable. But it's honest. I stopped performing and started actually changing things. The difference between where I was six months ago and where I am now is significant."

Entrepreneur

"I came in thinking I had a discipline problem. Within three sessions it was clear it was a contract problem, with myself mostly. Once I could see that, things started to shift."

Artist

The work doesn't produce temporary motivation. It produces something more durable: the ability to see your own thinking clearly enough to interrupt it.

"I do not know why I keep doing this" becomes "I can see the pattern, I know what it is protecting, and I can choose a cleaner action."

That shift, from autopilot to authorship, is the aim. It doesn't happen in one session. It is built through honest practice, precise questioning, and kept promises.

The clients who get the most from this work are those willing to look at what's actually there, not what they'd prefer to find.

About Clearground

Luke Steele

The Clearground method grew out of decades of work in the Science of Acting, a rigorous, psychological approach to consciousness, character and behaviour. The same tools that help an actor inhabit a character truthfully turn out to be precisely what helps a person understand and change their own.

The core insight is simple: most behaviour is not chosen. It is automatic. It runs from invisible thoughts, old contracts, unfinished emotional events, and protective patterns built long before adulthood. You cannot outrun or outwork these. You have to see them.

Our coaches work forensically. We look at what is actually happening: in journal entries, in session, in the specific texture of a person's repeated patterns, and we name it precisely. Not to embarrass or expose, but because clarity is what produces change. Vagueness doesn't.

We work with a small number of clients at any one time. We are not interested in volume. We are interested in people who are genuinely ready to look at what's running them and do something about it.

If that's you, get in touch.
